‘I believe in the principles of honesty and generosity. I work hard to achieve high-quality results and I like to share my skills with those who may not otherwise have the chance to benefit.
Hello there! My name is Marsha and I am the Managing Director of Marsha Miles Consultancy Ltd. Since starting work at 16 I gained a large amount of various vocational and academic experience which has contributed to me being a successful business owner today.
My career started in the Catering Industry. I completed my Diploma with the HCIMA (Hotel Management Association) in my early twenties and I continued to work in this field, managing large hotels and coordinating events and weddings. I enjoyed using my academic knowledge to improve my business expertise, marketing, customer service, HR and sales techniques. However, the hours were long and unsociable and an experience of burn out resulted in me leaving the industry, looking for a new challenge.
In my early twenties, I decided to work in the not for profit sector, I wanted to share my personal experiences to help others. I joined Mind in Somerset and spent 8 years working firstly as a support worker then moving to deputy manager, becoming CEO, a role I spent 4 years in.
I found I had a skill in writing successful funding bids, which led me to study with the IOF (Institute of Fundraising). I qualified with a Fundraising Diploma whilst working full time and raising a young daughter. I raised nearly 3 million pounds for the charity whilst at the same time I was able to learn important techniques in wellbeing, stress reduction & confidence building which have given me an important tool kit which has helped me immensely.
In April 2014 I began working for myself and quickly grew my own consultancy, providing jobs to women that wanted work in a charity consultancy role but who needed work to fit around their home life. As the business grew, I found myself having to adapt to a new challenge, that of the role of a single mum. I joined forces with fellow consultant Jane Phillips, and together we ran Miles Phillips Consulting Ltd for nearly 3 years.
In January 2020 I returned to running my own limited company with a small team of staff.
I am keen to continue the work I am passionate about, raising funds for charities and supporting woman to recognise how their experiences can be used for the greater social good. I am particularly interested in working with women who have experienced challenges with low self-esteem, poor mental health or who are primary caregivers. I know that all women can change the world if they are given the right tools and the right mentor to walk beside them.
